Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the trust, our work, and how you can participate.
Sri Shivasankalpa Trust is a charitable trust dedicated to supporting Vedic education in Gurukulas, fostering saṁskāra and cultural values, and sustaining the timeless Guru–Shishya Parampara. The name "Sri Shivasankalpa" was given as a blessing by the Jagadguru of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham.
The word comes from the Shiva Sankalpa Sukta of the Shukla Yajurveda — "तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु" (Tan me manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu) — a prayer that means "May my mind be filled with auspicious resolve." It reflects our aspiration that every action we take is guided by noble, dharmic intention.
Donations support three primary causes: (1) Gurukula Abhivruddhi — direct support to Vedic Gurukulas for infrastructure, teaching materials, and student welfare; (2) Go-Samrakshanam — supporting Gośālās and cow welfare; (3) Event Seva — funding sacred events like the Maharudra Purascharana that benefit the broader community.
You can participate through tanu (physical service/volunteering), mana (devotion and spreading awareness), and dhana (financial contributions). Visit our Events page for upcoming programmes, or Contact us to learn about volunteer opportunities.
We are in the process of obtaining 80G certification. Once approved, donations will be eligible for tax benefits under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. We will update this page when the certification is in place.
We are currently working with Gurukulas in the Bangalore area, including Shruti Parampara Gurukula (JP Nagar), Gowtama Veda Pathashala (Banashankari), and Sacchidananda Advaitashrama (Rajajinagar). We are actively expanding our network across Karnataka.
We welcome volunteers for event coordination, Gurukula visits, documentation, and outreach. Please write to us at info@shivasankalpa.org with a brief note about how you would like to contribute.
Sri Shivasankalpa Vrunda was blessed and named by the Jagadguru of the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri. The trust considers the blessings and guidance of the Sringeri Jagadgurus as paramount and operates in alignment with the Advaita Vedanta tradition of Adi Shankaracharya.
